Our Pastor:

Dr_KentLewis
Dr. Kent E. Lewis began his ministry at Christ Lutheran Church in October, 2008, and continues in that pastoral role. He is serving as a Licensed Lay Minister.

Dr. Lewis was ordained in 1968 and served congregations in Mississippi and Tennessee. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry (D.MIN.) degree from Vanderbilt University in 1977. In the early 1970's, he began full-time work in the field of Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling. He retired from private practice in 2008. He returned to ministry in 2006 serving as a part-time associate at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma.

He has lived in southern Middle Tennessee for 35 years. His wife, Brenda, has taught at Motlow State Community College; she now serves as interim Vice President of Academic Affairs. Their four children are grown and live out of the area.

Our Organist:

HelenNorman Born in Harvard, Illinois, Helen Norman moved to Manchester, TN with her huspand Chuck in 1958.

A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, she taught kindergarten for twenty-four years. Helen has three grown children. Her two boys, Dave and John live in Atlanta. Daughter Carol lives in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Helen has been playing the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church (in Tullahoma, TN) for many years as well as working with FRIENDS. Helen's hobbies include reading, sewing, gardening, and she also enjoys visiting shut-ins. She joined the staff of Christ Lutheran in October of 2009.





Church Council:

The church council consists of the pastor and six (6) elected members of the congregation. The Congregation Council shall have general oversight of the life and activities of this congregation, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.





Support Teams:

Altar Guild:

This team is responsible for preparing the altar for worship service with appointed paraments, linens, banners, candles, flowers, etc. In addition, this team is responsible for preparing and cleaning the Lord's Communion Table.

Caring Team [Sunshine]:

This team is responsible for providing care to members, family, and friends of Christ Lutheran Church in the event of sickness, death, or tragedies.

team_education

Education Team:

This team is responsible for the general supervision and implementation of all educational activities: Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and recruitment of teachers, etc.

team_facilities

Facilities Team:

This team is responsible for routine care of all church property.

team_fellowship

Fellowship Team:

This team is responsible for planning activities, events, and possible programs inside and outside of the church for the congregation.

team_publicity

Publicity Team:

This team is responsible for assisting other teams and the congregational Council with internal or external publicity (e.g. Web site content, news releases, bulletin boards, etc.).

team_visitation

Visitation Team:

This team is responsible for community outreach to perspective new members and members who are unable to attend service, etc.

team_worship

Worship Team:

This team is responsible for the planning of worship services for the church year, including special services. This includes scheduling supply pastors and organists; as well as, training for communion assistants, acolytes, ushers and greeters. In addition, this team can make recommendations to the church Council regarding worship related issues and concerns.
